After completing this laboratory you should be able to:   1)   Describe in general terms the development of the urogenital system in each of the vertebrate classes;   2)   Identify each of the specific urogenital structures in the list below;   3)   Localize and identify (if visible) each of the endocrine glands in the list below;   4)   Understand the major endocrine functions, hormones, and target organs of each endocrine gland.     I.  EXCRETORY AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS   1)  Work through Z&K exercise #9, involving the urogenital systems of the shark, mudpuppy and cat.    2)   Be able to identify the structures on the list below.   Structures to identify:          Shark:         Excretory Structures             kidneys             archinephric ducts             cloaca             urinary papilla             rectal gland         Male Reproductive Structures             testes             epididymis             vas deferens             seminal vesicle             sperm sacs             siphon sacs             clasper         Female Reproductive Structures              ovaries             oviducts             shell gland             uterus - uterine horns         Cat:         Excretory Structures             kidneys                 cortex                 medulla                 hilus             ureters                 renal pelvis             urinary bladder             urethra             membranous urethra             penile urethra (male only)             renal arteries and veins         Male Reproductive Structures             scrotum             testes             epididymis             spermatic cord                 vas deferens                 spermatic arteries and veins             inguinal canal             prostate             penis             bulbourethral glands         Female Reproductive System             ovaries             ovarian arteries and veins             oviducts             uterus - uterine horns             vagina         Necturus:         Excretory Structures             kidneys             archinephric ducts             cloaca             urinary bladder         Male Reproductive Structures             testes             archinephric ducts         Female Reproductive Structures              ovaries             oviducts     II.  ENDOCRINE SYSTEM   1)   Work through the handout exercise (C&R) on gross anatomy of endocrine organs in the cat, shark, and salamander.   2)   Be able to identify the endocrine organs of the shark, salamander, and cat in the list below.   Structures to identify:                      pituitary         pineal         thyroid         thymus          adrenals         pancreas (Islets of Langerhans)
